Mental Health and Substance Use Challenges
Chick joins Milkweed Connections as a peer companion and mentor, supporting individuals to develop skills and wellness tools that will enable them to live independent and meaningful lives. He believes that with peer support an individual can be empowered by a struggle with mental illness, and can learn to fully succeed in family and community. Prior to his work with peer support and peer advocacy, Chick taught English-as-a-Second-Language in elementary and middle school settings for 26 years. He brings his experience with children and families to his work at Milkweed Connections.
Chick serves as a Helpline coordinator for the Depression and Bipolar Support Association, and works with the National Alliance on Mental Illness - Chippewa Valley. In his extra time he enjoys biking, swimming, hiking and reading a good book.
