Mental Health and Substance Use Challenges

Sam believes that you are important, valuable, and interesting every day of your life. You have dignity and deserve to be seen. Your journey is your own, and progress is not always linear. Sam believes we can become more of who we want to be every day, and that we need support and care instead of control. He is fascinated by the world and the people in it. He believes in safety, curiosity, and the fundamental dignity of every person.

Sam is open to different ways of being and continues to explore the kind of life he wants. He is drawn to those who society has decided don’t fit and to people who are trying to create spaces for themselves to thrive in the midst of an often indifferent world. He is polyamorous and spends a lot of his time with people who are part of the LGTBQIA+ community. Sam has lived experience with depression and suicidal ideation, as well as with deconstructing religious belief systems.

Sam has a wide range of indoor-person hobbies and interests, from reading a disproportionate amount of science fiction to playing a variety of fretted instruments. He can be convinced to go outside, and he is trying to ride his bike more because cars make him grumpy. He has a lot of thoughts about basketball, music, and methods of making coffee.
