Sam joins Milkweed Connections offering peer support. He is fascinated by the world and the people in it. He believes in safety, curiosity, and the fundamental dignity of every person. He is a stay-at-home dad and musician who plays several fretted instruments.

Growing up in a high-control religion, and then leaving that environment, Sam is curious about different ways of being and continues to explore the kind of life he wants. He is comfortable around people from a variety of backgrounds and modes of living. He is polyamorous and spends a lot of his time with people who are part of the LGTBQIA+ community.

Sam has lived experience with depression and suicidal ideation, as well as with deconstructing religious belief systems. He is patient with the process of growth and believes that the path to lasting change is specific to each person. Our journeys take different amounts of time and progress is not always linear. Sam believes we can become more of who we want to be every day, and that we need support and care far more than we need to be controlled or directed.

Sam has a wide range of indoor-person hobbies and interests, from reading a disproportionate amount of science fiction to buying surf green electric guitars. He can be convinced to go outside, and he is trying to ride his bike more because cars make him grumpy. He has a lot of thoughts about basketball, music, and methods of making coffee.
