Cooking and Nutrition

More and more studies are helping us to better understand the strong correlation between poor nutrition and poor mental health, along with the complementary correlation between good nutrition and positive mental health. Unfortunately, access to fast, processed, and unhealthy foods is easy, whereas access to thoughtful and nutritious food can seem out of reach to many!

Milkweed Connections providers can work with people in their homes or can utilize the kitchens in our offices in Menomonie and Balsam Lake to build up skills and knowledge in the areas of cooking and nutrition. Participants can learn about nutrition and how it impacts their mental health and substance use. Participants can learn how to cook meals that will benefit their mental health and/or reduce substance use.

Our providers who particularly enjoy or have special training in cooking and nutrition include Abby, Brett, and Kate.
